University of Washington Medical students reflect on their summer internships in internal medicine and family clinics in the NW. With health care reform discussions abounding on every front, medical students are divided as to whether the reform, as it stands, will make an effective change. One student recognizes that a positive change made in one patient’s life, is a success; systematic change is an unrealistic expectation. Others find health care reform unsubstantiated by a strong enough moral argument, and hope to be fully compensated for the 13+ hour days they spend diagnosing and treating peoples’ illnesses.
